The role of the Solutions Strategist is to take the lead in making the following happen as either Architect, Owner, Deliverer, Co-ordinator or Contributor,  working collaboratively with the investment and distribution teams as the case may be:

  • Information: Drive production and improvement of an up to date set of core product information, including the ‘message house’, external collateral and internal collateral;
  • Communication: Generate market and fund updates, case studies and thought leadership to bring products and services to life in real time;       
  • Solutions: Create standard presentation slides and RFP content to support client specific queries and lead non-standard Presentation and RFP production. Represent Distribution or Portfolio Managers where required; and
  • Innovation: Drive forward continuous improvement of existing and new products and services, and support the business strategy of each investment area.                 

 

The Solutions Strategist team of 18 people covers LGIM’s investment areas and all distribution channels (this role will focus on defined benefit pensions including LDI, equity derivatives, FX, cashflow matching, ALM and asset allocation).

 

Investment:

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the current investment market and economic issues from an asset allocation perspective.
  • Maintain knowledge of LGIM's core views on markets, current fund positions and key performance drivers for communication to client relationship managers, distribution and clients.
  • Support the team in responding to technical product specific client queries, leveraging others in the team when required.

 

Product marketing:

  • Support the team with presentations to a range of clients, potential clients, consultants and intermediaries.
  • Assist in structuring new business presentations and the supporting materials, such as RFPs, fund factsheets and other marketing collateral.
  • Be involved with the on-going education needs of client relationship managers, trustees, consultants and others.
  • Support the team in preparation of portfolio construction analysis in conjunction with the investment teams, including construction of liability benchmarks from cashflow information

 

Relationship management:

  • Liaise with the Client Relationship teams to understand client requirements and source data
  • Foster internal relationships to achieve broader and better product knowledge and to pull together the ‘best of LGIM’ for our clients.

 

Product Development:

  • Liaise with the product development team to support the implementation of the product strategy for LGIM—to include new product launches as well as changes to existing products.

Academic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree educated or equivalent preferably mathematical, financial or econometric educational background

 

Experience

  • Preferable to have experience in the asset management industry in a multi-asset solutions environment (via internships or otherwise)
  • Candidate is likely to have worked in a similar role in the investment industry or as part of an investment team or within a consultancy as either a benefit consultant, an actuary or a research analyst

 

Knowledge/skills

  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Powerpoint and Excel
  • Excellent written communication and presentation skills
  • Highly numerate
  • Familiarity with the Defined Benefit pension scheme industry
  • Pension actuarial knowledge and/or qualification, IMC, CFA (or studying towards) desirable
