An experienced full-stack developer is required to help develop a new mission critical global front-office application used by Portfolio Managers. You will gain exposure to a variety of partners at all levels, from Senior Technology leaders to Senior Business partners.

Nexus is a self-determining technology group delivering global change to the LGIM Investment Teams. The Nexus platform is run as a series of Feature teams operating within an agile model.

The candidate will be working as a senior developer on one of the newest and most critical Features in the Nexus estate. The application in question is built using Angular supported by mostly Java-based microservices, running within the Openshift PaaS and in AWS. The candidate must maintain strong relationships with the project team, business stakeholders and end-users to ensure that the technology product meets their requirements and expectations.

Development

  • Deliver working and tested software, following prescribed standards and patterns.
  • Be involved in the creation of accurate estimates for planned work going into Sprints.
  • Ensure that Development is delivered within quality guidelines
  • Be able to work with little or no oversight and also to oversee work of junior or apprentice developers.
  • Actively seek to tackle Technical Debt including the delivery of work planned as part of Technical Roadmaps.

Analysis

  • Work with BAs and the Product Owner to take requirements and break them down into Epics, Stories. Design and document solutions.
  • Write and assign development sub-tasks to less experienced members of the team, monitoring progress against plan and estimates

Support

  • Ensure that developments are transitioned effectively into support teams.
  • Provide 3rd line support, as appropriate, leading the investigation of production issues and being proactive in preventing their repeat.

Teamwork

  • Seek to both acquire and distribute knowledge and experience among team members; both in technical and business aspects.
  • Conduct code reviews with peers and be able to provide constructive feedback and suggestions
  • Pair programme where appropriate to improve quality and to help mentor junior members

  • Expert Angular 6+, Bootstrap, HTML5 / JavaScript / CSS3
  • Strong Java 8+

  • RESTful Services / Json
  • Strong SQL and RDBMS knowledge (PostgreSQL ideally)
