The role of the Manager is to work closely with the department manager developing and coaching the team to support the department strategy, providing effective support for the growth of the global markets business. This is a prominent position with a key focus on managing through others to deliver on objectives in a fast paced and changeable environment.

The primary function of the Collateral Team is to support LGIM’s trading activities by ensuring all Collateral Management functions are effectively managed in accordance with regulatory requirements, within market deadlines and providing effective support to all key stakeholders across the group in accordance with regulatory requirements and market deadlines.  With the current and continued emphasis on Collateral within the industry this role requires a collaborative and personalised approach to service with a commitment and focus on contributing to the development of innovative solutions designed to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the service delivery, against varying investment objectives and demands.

Principle Accountabilities

  • Proactively manage Collateral Teams across 4 main product pillars, Bi-Lateral OTC, Cleared OTC, Cleared ETD and Repo
  • Implement department strategy as necessary through staff.
  • Ensure team structure supports the service provision and workflow is organised appropriately.
  • Identify processes and service enhancements, or potential risks, to ensure the client service provided is of the highest standard and remains fully compliant.
  • Manage the resolution of complex outstanding items, business issues and rectify anomalies to ensure high-level of customer service.
  • Undertake quality assurance of work to ensure errors are minimised.
  • Represent the team, department in a professional, collaborative, and commercially aware manner, developing good working relationships with all internal and external parties.
  • Ensure the system infrastructure is robust, trusted and supports the longer term department strategies and enables efficient operational service delivery in compliance with all internal and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain detailed knowledge of platform operation processes and system.
  • Continuous review of team procedures, policies, systems and issues. Recommend changes to procedures and implement, ensuring that they are scalable, repeatable and efficient. Participate in department wide reviews of procedures where appropriate.
  • Work collaboratively with manager/staff fostering credibility and influence towards developing a reputation of operational excellence across the firm.
  • Work collaboratively with peers to share best practise and create awareness of issues throughout the department.
  • Ensure superlative service levels are maintained to both internal and external parties.
  • Produce insightful and meaningful MI reporting to management highlighting trends, analysis, errors.
  • Responsible for sharing market information to relevant internal departments. Identify issues/changes which impact teams across Investment Operations/LGIM.
  • Proactively engage with key internal/external stakeholders around regulatory change and impact on existing processes.
  • Maintain technical capability for job, keeping abreast of market and industry developments.
  • Work closely with service providers to ensure service provision supports our business requirements.
  • Recruit, manage, develop and engage team members seeking continuous improvement in both quality standards and productivity.
  • Ensure team proficiency through pro-active performance management. Proactively identify training and development needs of staff which provide a focus for delivery in line with department objectives and Ops strategy.
  • Robust management and implementation of projects/initiatives.
  • Challenge established methods, explore and promote new ideas or ways of working with the buy in and enthusiasm from team.
  • Strong technical investment process knowledge/experience relevant to role.
  • Proven experience of managing a team, equivalent to like functions.
  • Strong experience/skills in oversight controls.
  • Demonstrable people management skills, experience of delivering change.
  • Constantly challenge established methods and to look at promoting new ideas with the buy in and enthusiasm from your team.
  • Proven track record of dealing with and influencing upwards to more senior managers.
  • Collaborative and personalised approach to service commitment, delivery and continuous improvement.
  • Confident liaising across, Front Office, Investment Operations environments.
  • Evidence of effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Flexible, adaptable and able to multi-task in a fast paced and changeable environment.
  • Ability to grasp issues, find creative and innovative solutions to problems.
  • Proven experience successfully managing multiple projects and producing quality deliverables on time and within budget.
  • Ability to successfully debate and subsequently influence internally & externally
  • Strong communication skills both verbally and written, with an ability to articulate issues clearly and logically.
  • Strong analytical and written skills.
  • Developed presentation skills.
