Writing, editing and shaping fund, economic and financial market commentary, content for sales materials, press articles and thought leadership. In addition, the Investment Writer will have responsibility for fund reporting, helping create events copy, awards submissions and will help craft and deliver investment communications social media (blogs, LinkedIn, Twitter).

In addition, the Investment Writer will have responsibility for fund reporting, helping create events copy, awards submissions and will help craft and deliver investment communications social media (blogs, LinkedIn, Twitter).

The Investment Writer will create, edit and proof read written content for LGIM’s marketing materials with an emphasis on high quality, compliant investment copy. They will also build successful relationships with LGIM’s fund managers, economists and product specialists to assist in representing ‘house’ investment views across many different LGIM business channels. The Investment Writer will also be responsible for maximising opportunities to develop LGIM brand and investment track record.

The Investment Writer will also be responsible for producing/updating the content pipeline, thought-leadership round-up, video content and marketing reporting packs as well as attending specific meetings as required.

Principal accounabilities:

  1. Produce regular fund commentary for LGIM’s range of funds for use in quarterly institutional reports. 
  2. Maintain an understanding of LGIM’s economic and market forecasts and produce regular market review and outlook commentary for use in regular reporting and promotional material.
  3. Create, edit and proof read content for marketing material with emphasis on high quality, compliant writing that articulates LGIM’s value proposition messages and supports our brand positioning. Including collateral, advertorials and social media activity.
  4. Build successful relationships with fund managers, economists, product specialists and other senior members of LGIM staff.
  5. Attend regular investment meetings and communicate themes back to broader sales and marketing team.
  6. Maximise opportunities to develop LGIM brand and investment track record.
  7. Act as a central contact point for investment commentary for LGIM’s different sales and client facing teams.
  8. Produce regular fund reports for the business and support other investment communications team members in peak reporting periods to relieve pressure and remove potential bottlenecks.
  9. Own, update and present the content pipeline report used by the Investment teams at regular meetings.
  10. Collect and report on metrics related to thought leadership to improve all stages of the process across investments, marketing and distribution.
  11. Provide copy for thought leadership video scripts, social media platforms, events and awards submissions.
  12. Contribute to origination, production and delivery of thought leadership across the three streams.
  13. Provide investment commentary to journalists to support PR campaigns.
  14. Provide editorial oversight of LGIM’s institutional suite of fund commentary and support the retail marketing team to ensure consistent market views.
  15. Coordinate and proof read content from external writers.
  16. Work with other investment communications team members and provide cover, as required.
  17. Optimise thought leadership for greatest client impact across channels, including leveraging social media to improve the reach of LGIM’s publications.
  18. Develop ownership of specific areas within thought leadership as directed by team head (i.e. Technology).
  19. Provide first-class, dedicated investment communications support to DC team across investments and distribution.
  20. Deliver thought leadership, articles, collateral and other written content to support the team’s strategic objectives.
  21. Attend DC meetings and contribute ideas for originating new content.
  22. Support marketing and other areas of the business when investment communications help is required.

Academic qualifications: BA/BS in English, Economics, Finance or Marketing.

Experience: Demonstrable experience of writing in an institutional asset management company, or an agency serving the investment industry or a news outlet covering the industry. Strong understanding of investments, markets and economic trends; ability to translate complex financial concepts. Editing and proofreading experience.

Specialist knowledge / skills: Exceptional writing and editing skills and demonstrated proficiency in writing for a variety of audiences. A strong command of global financial and investment topics, a keen sense of business priorities, and an ability to quickly grasp and communicate the relevance and distinguishing characteristics of one investment approach over another. Fund reporting experience is desirable along with sound knowledge of various asset classes across LGIM. Knowledge of crafting messages for social media platforms is desirable.

Other skills and competences: Ability to work collaboratively with a range of different stakeholders; conveys credibility when working with investment professionals. Strong organizational and project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects, changing priorities and key partners at the same time. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, in order to effectively interact with senior executives, investment teams, marketing colleagues as well as external partners. Strategic and creative thinker with attention to detail - ability to work independently. Strong influencer and collaborator.
