To oversee the transfer of assets for new clients.  This role will involve end to end planning of the asset transition and data migration for new business.  It will require an individual with a strong background in planning to liaise with a number of internal and external parties to develop project plans and implement transitions resolving issues as they occur.

Key accountabilities/responsibilities:

  • The role will involve end to end planning of the transfer of assets on to LGIM’s DC Investment Only Platform and overseeing the transfer while being executed – candidate will need to understand the various methodologies involved in transferring significant assets, in a time critical, risk managed way, involving multiple LGIM teams (ASM, COM, Implementation, Valuations, Transfers, Product, DMO, Fund Governance and Legal) and face off to third parties (ceding platform providers, ceding fund managers, external fund TAs together with consultants & trustees) – the role involves pushing back on pressure to shorten timescales, overcoming problems with unhelpful providers losing assets.  Our largest transition to date was £2bn across c30 funds (£1bn being external funds)
  • The role will involve working with specialist teams to effect co-ordinated re-registration of units from LGIM and third party managers, in-specie transfers, pre-funding and restructuring of assets – once the plan has been agreed, the role involves ensuring effective execution.  In reality this means handling the issues that arise when we are let down by third party managers, platform providers, transfer agents, etc and need to mange problems, issues, rescheduling of events in a constrained time window
  • Production of transition plans in co-operation with internal teams
  • It will require an individual with a strong background in planning and asset transfers who can communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and clients and third party fund managers & ceding platform providers – we are looking for someone who is credible in market with consultants, trustees, employers.
  • The role will involve the individual accurately capturing the client’s requirements around fund set-up, transfer activity and hand offs to administrators. A DC and transitioning background is essential and this also means understanding the limitations and constraints of administrators.  If this isn’t understood and an administrator cannot reconcile the pension plan and its members remain in blackout – unable to contribute, switch, retire, transfer out.
  • Provide clients with all relevant documentation: new policy documentation, stock transfer forms, letters of instruction and indemnity documents
  • Request new funds (new external funds and Platform whitelabelled and blended funds)
  • The role will also involve project managing restructuring of assets for pre-existing clients. An area previously flagged as a risk – DC restructures are major projects involving pre-existing clients who are looking to change their investments – can involve similar parties to the transitions
  • Providing consultants and clients with information post transfer – handling auditor, consultant, client queries confidently and in a timely manner.

Academic Qualifications:

  • Strong academic background or equivalent experience

Experience:

  • Project planning especially around new business take ons
  • Transfer of pension assets
  • Data analysis and attention to detail
  • Communicating to clients and consultants
  • Good working knowledge of Excel
  • Strong focus on detail and comfortable with taking on major projects
  • Highly organised, proactive and accountability for delivery
