With the input and approval of internal and external stakeholders, produce and co-ordinate all approvals for investment guidelines.  Creative and lateral thinking abilities are critical, as well as the ability to act as a business guardian, considering always LGIM’s standard service and operational capabilities

  • Implementation solution design: Think creatively to draft guidelines which achieve the client’s objectives, working within the legal, regulatory, operational and risk and control constraints, and proposing solutions to non-standard requirements. Work in conjunction with investment specialists on the launch of new products to support the design of new products within existing processes and risk frameworks.
  • Technical competence: Demonstrate technical ability (strategy, instrument, operational, regulatory) including with segregated, derivative-based and liability-aware solutions to build respect with fund managers, clients and operational teams in order to drive agreed developments through.  Be curious to develop a clear understanding of the function of all business areas within LGIM, building and maintaining an effective network of strong working relationships within those areas; take an active role in transferring knowledge by training team members and (where required) the wider business.
  • Project management: Support the Implementation Team in managing end-to-end implementation, managing multiple complex projects within agreed timelines.
  • Stakeholder management: Represent stakeholders not in the room to anticipate and identify solutions to downstream issues, to make the most of every interaction. 
  • Client focus: Attend client meetings/calls as implementation expert and chair internal meetings with key stakeholders to ensure effective decision-making.
  • Risk management: Act as business guardian ensuring all risks are considered by the appropriate decision-maker and ensure all necessary checks are carried out prior to launch; embrace complexity with perceptive attention to detail to spot what is missing; where applicable, design and implement procedures to improve the control environment with a particular focus on documentation.
  • Strong academic background
  • Degree qualified (preferably 2.1) or equivalent
  • IMC
  • Other investment qualifications such as CFA, FIA
  • Experience implementing institutional investment solutions, including drafting investment guidelines
  • Demonstrable track record of building strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels
  • Experience delivering exceptional service to institutional clients
  • Experience drafting broader legal documentation and risk policies
  • Working in or with a range of asset management functions such as legal, compliance, risk functions, cash/collateral management, performance
  • Training and presenting
  • Strong overall investment and product structure knowledge, including LDI solutions and the mechanics of OTC and ETD derivatives
  • The ability to communicate, influence and operate at a senior management level, including presenting complex ideas simply to facilitate effective decision-making
  • Detailed Institutional Investment product knowledge such as cashflow-driven, index funds factor-based
  • Knowledge of project management and documentation management best practice
  • Excellent attention to detail, energised to think outside the box to spot what is missing.
  • Highly organised and enjoys managing multiple moving events with initiative and
  • proactivity
  • Act with integrity to fulfil our fiduciary and legal duty managing client money
  • Highly team-orientated, eager to share best practice

Due to the continued growth of the business, we are now looking for an Implementation Manager to help drive this change, focussing on delivering investment documentation which best achieves the client’s objectives while building a well controlled business.

The successful candidate will have experience in implementing institutional investment solutions, which could be from an asset manager, investment consultancy or an investment bank and will ideally include liability-aware and/or factor-based solutions experience.  Familiarity with a range of product structures, financial instruments and investment strategies will be key, together with a sound understanding of the regulatory and operational environment and a passion for getting the detail right.
