Responsible for the co-ordination of regulatory and advocacy work undertaken by the Corporate Governance team

Key responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the co-ordination of regulatory and advocacy work undertaken by the Corporate Governance team
  • To develop and assist in the execution of advocacy and public policy strategies that support the team objectives
  • To interact and develop key relationships with external stakeholders to facilitate objectives
  • To write, and support the development of, written responses to key stakeholders and regulations
  • To support the development of LGIM’s positions on key ESG topics
  • To undertake and support company engagement activity
  • Collaborate internally to seek material policy issues effecting LGIM clients
  • Represent LGIM’s views and positions at relevant external meetings and roundtables
  • Educated to Bachelor’s degree level or equivalent
  • Communication
    • Excellent written and verbal communication, including presentations, structured thinking, and providing concise commentary to persuade and influence.  
  • Preferably a level of investment experience and knowledge, with understanding of different asset classes
  • A sound understanding of corporate governance issues
  • Personality to deal with sensitive and contentious decisions with investee companies, regulators and stakeholders
     
  • Writing
    • Advanced writing skills – including report writing and formal letters. Experience of writing regulatory submissions an advantage.
  • Collaboration
    • Track record of developing strong working relationships with internal teams and/or external stakeholders to influence.
    • Ability to receive and share knowledge and experience to team members and/or stakeholders
  • Working style
    • Proactive and solution orientated.
    • Self-motivated and an excellent team player
    • Highly effective at time management, multi-tasking, prioritisation and escalation in order to meet agreed timelines.
       
  • Knowledge/Experience
    • Public Policy and Advocacy
      • Background in global public policy or advocacy
      • Evidence of influencing decision-makers
      • Experience of developing a campaign to initiate change
      • Understanding of stakeholders linked to the asset management industry/pensions and companies

  • Regulation
    • Interest and knowledge of global regulatory environment across the investment chain – e.g. for companies, asset management and pensions industry
    • Prior experience of discussions or communication with regulators or governments
    • Understanding regulatory environment of the financial sector
    • Existing contacts an advantage
  • E, S and Governance
    • Demonstrable interest in corporate governance / financial markets/ company law / company regulation a requirement.
    • Experience and background in these fields an advantage
    • Interest in climate change, and other environmental and social aspects.
  • Experience of working in or with the financial industry
