LGIM is looking for a Business Analyst to work in the Nexus IT team which is responsible for implementation, enhancement and maintenance of applications used for portfolio management and trading within LGIM

LGIM is looking for a Business Analyst to work in the Nexus IT team which is responsible for implementation, enhancement and maintenance of applications used for portfolio management and trading within LGIM. This includes applications directly used by portfolio managers and traders and also by those teams that directly support the investment process such as Portfolio Monitoring – who are responsible for pre- and post-trade compliance checks and Global Analytics. 

The BA will work closely with the project manager for each initiative and the Head of Nexus Change Management within LGIM. Initially the BA will be required to work on the implementation of a new 3rd party vendor application to be used for the order management of a variety of OTC Derivatives.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Worked in asset management firms
  • Knowledge of buy-side order management processes
  • Experience working on projects that have implemented 3rd party vendor applications
  • Knowledge of a variety of OTC Derivatives

The BA will be required to identify business requirements, define and document the operating model associated with the service and support the technical delivery.

Excellent communications skills are a pre-requisite.

 

Analysis

  • Production of Business Requirements documents for projects.
  • Agreement of the business requirements with the business and with the developers assigned to the project.
  • Production of Data Requirements documents for the project.
  • Definition of Target Operating Model documents and process flows.
  • Delivery of Use Cases and Activity Diagrams for all order lifecycle and trading activities.
  • Estimation of the time to carry out analysis tasks.
  • Contribution to project business cases, project briefs, presentations etc as directed by the project manager.
  • Providing analysis on defects and changing requirements as projects progress, ensure such defects and/or changes are tracked on defect tracking system.

Testing

  • Ensuring that business analysis requirements are reflected correctly as test conditions within the test control application.
  • Support of both the QA IT team and end users in executing such tests.
  • Ensuring that once a project is complete, test conditions are reassigned to Regression test pack for applications via the QA team.

Project Closure

  • Ensure that lessons learnt on analysis from Project Closure Reports or Agile Retrospectives are communicated to all analysts in the department.

Support

  • Provide 3rd line support, as appropriate, following implementation.

Academic Qualifications

  • Graduate calibre, although degree not essential.

Technical and Professional Qualifications

  • Ideally IMC, or other qualifications or courses demonstrating an interest in the business.
  • Demonstrated history of learning, particularly in the front office environment.  For example, conferences or specific training courses relating to front office.

Experience and Background

  • Must have worked in a fund management company as a business analyst supporting teams who use risk analytics, for example, portfolio managers, traders and Investment Risk analysts.
  • Demonstrated ability to estimate the time taken to carry out analysis tasks, and meet the time estimated.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop excellent requirements documents.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to the execution of test plans.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with users to define concepts or under the direction of project managers.
  • Must be able to demonstrate a collaborative approach with developers and subject matter experts to establish the approach to projects, and ensure good communication of requirements.
  • Must have demonstrable experience of working in an Agile project environment.

  • Communication: Must be able to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of executives, managers, and subject matter experts.
  • Challenging: Must be able to demonstrate the ability to drive and challenge business units on their assumptions of how they will successfully implement plans
  • Attention to Detail: Must be able to demonstrate the ability to drill into analysis, using interviews, document analysis, workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, scenarios, workflow analysis, in order to ensure a thorough understanding of the problem and proposed solution.
  • Analysis: Must be able to demonstrate critical evaluation of information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests for the underlying true needs.
