As an Agile Program Consultant you are a Servant Leader and Agile Change Agent who will deliver a world class Agile change capability for LGIM. You will be responsible for championing, governing, scaling, and measuring the success of our operating framework and the Agile Transformation.

Responsibilities:

  • As an Agile Programe Consultant / Agile Change Agent you will be responsible for some of the below activities:
  • Reaching the tipping point – They communicate the business need, urgency, and vision for change.
  • Training executives, managers, and leaders – They socialize the new concepts and provide orientation and overview training. SPCs teach Leading SAFe to leaders, managers, and stakeholders.
  • Establishing a Lean-Agile Centre of Excellence (LACE) – SPCs assist the LACE with building and executing the transformation backlog.
  • Identifying Value Streams and Agile Release Trains (ARTs) – Working with stakeholders to understand the flow of value, SPCs identify value streams and ARTs to find those that are the most opportunistic for launch.
  • Creating the implementation plan – SPCs participate in creating a plan for the rollout, communicate upcoming changes, and establish metrics.
  • Preparing for the ART launch – SPCs help the LACE plan and prepare for the ART launch. They coach leadership and help facilitate the creation of new Agile Teams. They also train or source training of executives, leaders, development teams, and specialty roles—such as Product Owner, Product Manager, Scrum Master, and Release Train Engineer (RTE). They also assess and evolve launch and backlog readiness.
  • Training teams and launching the ART – SPCs often directly plan and execute ‘quickstart’ or other rollout strategies. They train or source training for teams and participate in initial, critical events like Program Increment (PI) Planning and Inspect and Adapt (I&A). SPCs help establish the ART launch date and calendar for ART and Team events.
  • Coaching ART execution – The SPCs coach leaders and stakeholders to build and maintain the Vision, Roadmap, and Program Backlogs. They coach teams, Product Owners, Product Managers, Architects, and RTEs. They also participate in Scrum of Scrums and System Demo, facilitate I&A and follow-up on improvement items. Finally, they help teams establish a DevOps culture and mindset, the Continuous Delivery Pipeline, infrastructure, and associated Agile technical practices.
  • Launching more ARTs and value streams – SPCs work to enable new change agents to increase organizational capacity to support new value streams, start more ARTs, and expand the reach of the LACE. They communicate progress and highlight early accomplishments.
  • Extending to the portfolio – Once Lean-Agile practices gain momentum, SPCs can socialize and drive those portfolio practices to other areas of the company, including Lean Budgets, Lean Portfolio Management, leaner approaches to CapEx and OpEx, and Agile Contracts. They also communicate the value of Strategic Themes.
  • Sustaining and improving – An enterprise can never be too Lean. SPCs take a long-term view in advancing quality, fostering a Lean-Agile approach to human resources, supporting enhanced skill development with continuing education, and establishing Communities of Practice (CoPs). They encourage self-assessments (ref. Agile Maturity Metrics), and help perform value stream mapping.

Qualifications

  • Degree level education.
  • SAFe Certified Practitioner, ideally an SPC Qualification and relevant professional experience

Knowledge

  • Significant knowledge of large scale traditional transformation programmes, and a practical understanding of how Agile principles can be applied to solve some of the challenges they bring.
  • Development and support of complex Agile systems
  • Dev Ops (Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment)
  • Risk management, including operational risk management
  • Significant Business / IT transformation experience in a highly regulated industry like Asset Management / Financial Services
  • Servant Leadership including how to foster Servant Leadership in Systems
  • Embracing difference and promotion of diversity of thought and approach

Experience

  • Track record of delivering great customer outcomes
  • Substantial experience in building out innovative data, analytics and technology strategies and their links to business strategies
  • Excellent understanding of IT and data architectures, infrastructures and business processes they support and the ability to interpret these into innovative system solutions and controls to meet business needs
  • Experience of delivering significant transformations in highly regulated environments
  • Experience of leading large and complex organisations from Waterfall to Agile ways of working and thinking
  • Experience of reshaping and sustaining appropriate Governance and Controls to both foster Agility while ensuring the organisation remains within its risk tolerance
  • Direct & indirect budget management
  • Experience of delivering end to end Digital Solutions and Operating Models
  • Experience of coaching and developing Executives on their journey toward agility
