Exciting opportunity to join LGIM as a Release Train Engineer and deliver a world class Agile change capability for LGIM. You will be a seasoned change professional with a solid grasp of how to scale Lean and Agile practices and understand the unique opportunities and challenges associated with facilitating and continuously aligning a large development program. You will help configure SAFe to the organization’s needs, standardizing and documenting practices.

This servant-leadership role is delivery focused, a facilitator of program-level Agile ceremonies and behaviour, driving system-wide Agile ways of working and incremental improvement. Key responsibilities are:

Cross-team collaboration:

  • Coordinate and ensure collaboration across all teams, and wider stakeholder groups irrespective of Geography or Organisational alignment, to deliver the program backlog, with dependencies and cross-team activity clearly tracked, managed and reported.
  • Facilitate synchronization across all the vertical (e.g. product teams) and horizontal elements of the system (e.g. operations team , internal suppliers etc.).

Programme backlog support:

  • Support Product Management to define and prioritise the program solution Kanban according to business values and committed outcomes. The Product teams will continue to own the strategy, prioritization and business outcomes.
  • Coach product teams to ensure that the vision, strategy and objectives for each PI planning increment are clearly understood, communicated and tracked.

Reporting and governance:

  • Provide clear and factual reporting of feature delivery, team metrics, blockers and constraints, escalating to appropriate governance forums where leadership intervention is required.
  • Ensure the clear, effective and timely flow of risk, issue and status information from teams to leadership and governance forums, and clear, effective and timely flow of leadership, strategy, vision and support from management to the teams.

Process improvement:

  • Deliver continuous improvement and repeatable approaches for PI planning, system demos, leadership retrospectives and other program-level activity. Scrum-level ceremonies will remain the responsibility of Scrum Masters.
  • Assist with economic decision-making, and provide input on resourcing to address critical bottlenecks for the ART.
  • Ensure clear communication with stakeholders such that the programme approach and delivery aligns with its business and operational context. For example, ensuring that the delivery approach aligns with the Ops teams transformation strategy.
  • Put in-place effective and engaging communities of practice, or integrate with pre-existing ones where relevant, to drive good quality practices, including measurement of their adoption and success. Enable the ongoing development of leaders and teams through coaching, mentoring, knowledge-sharing and good practices.
  • Demonstrate incremental Improvement in dev-ops approaches and release efficiency and effectiveness.

Qualifications

  • Masters level numerate or software sciences degree or equivalent.
  • SAFe Certified Practitioner and relevant professional experience.

Knowledge:

  • Significant knowledge of large scale Agile and traditional transformation programmers, and a practical understanding of how Agile principles can be applied to solve some of the challenges they bring.
  • Strong knowledge financial processes and controls. Sympathetic to nervousness finance functions may have with Agile concepts and be able to offer practical advice and support to bridge the gap.
  • Significant experience in the establishment of Group functions in a large, complex organization and the challenges that may bring.
  • Risk management, including operational risk management
  • Significant Business / IT transformation experience in a highly regulated industry like Asset Management / Financial Services
  • Servant Leadership including how to foster Servant Leadership in Systems
  • Embracing difference and promotion of diversity of thought and approach

Experience

  • Track record of delivering great customer outcomes
  • Substantial experience in building out innovative data, analytics and technology strategies and their links to business strategies
  • Excellent understanding of IT and data architectures, infrastructures and business processes they support and the ability to interpret these into innovative system solutions and controls to meet business needs
  • Experience of significant transformations in highly regulated environments
  • Experience of reshaping and sustaining appropriate Governance and Controls to both foster Agility while ensuring the organisation remains within its risk tolerance
  • Experience of delivering end to end Digital Solutions and Operating Models
  • Experience of coaching and developing Executives on their journey toward agility
  • Understanding of end to end Digital Solutions and Operating Models
  • Significant experience of managing large complex change portfolios and budgets
