The team provides management of the portfolio pipeline of change, developing proposals into light business cases, delivery of projects/programmes of work, managing the business impacts and partnering with IT Application Development & Business areas to oversee the change portfolio.

This role requires an experienced business analyst capable of overeseeing and driving the early stages of project inception, through to delivery. We are looking for a candidate who sees the bigger picture, and can act as expert counsel to align Business Change ideas to Operating Model, Architecture and Strategic themes, as well as coaching, mentoring and guiding other analysts. Someone who is at home operating in an Lean, Agile environment and is comfortable formulating and consulting on Epics across identified Value Streams.

 

The candidate will be self-starting and inquisitive; comfortable working in complex delivery environments, with multiple stakeholders. Excellent communications skills are a pre-requisite.

 

The candidate will have the ability to:

Identify and manage the 'big picture' associated with Business Change and proactively work with stakeholders to optimise, enable and drive the portfolio

Identify innovative, effective and scalable approaches to tackle business change problems

Capturing as-is and to-be operating models; incorporating processes, organisation, technology and information themes, using a variety of business analysis techniques.

Act in a business consultancy capacity; managing competing requirements, configuring and managing workshops and, where appropriate, acting in a Product Owner capacity.

Derive and define high level business requirements, map out appropriate Epics and User Stories to support delivery. Look for re-use opportunities and identify appropriate value streams.

Liaise with technical delivery teams throughout the change lifecycle; manage the relationships.

Validate resource requirements and cost estimates for analysis and other deliverables. Assess and critique the estimates of others.

Play a major role in the production of Lean business cases

Support creation of test planning and scripts. Promote BDD, TDD and other similar techniques, as appropriate

Promote the use of agile toolsets like Kanban boards to manage backlogs, whilst ensuring full traceability of requirements through to benefits. Push adoption in the team.

Ensure that all change is compliant with the Business Change Management Framework

Manage escalation and prioritisation pro-actively, and in some cases manage the outcomes of escalations from others

Identify best practice opportunities for the Business Change Business Analysis team and contribute to realising these opportunities

Lead one or more business analysis 'pods' focussed on particular client journeys, value streams, or equivalent.

As required, perform line management for one or more business analysts

  • Relevant experience in an Investment Management company is highly desirable, although other commensurate backgrounds will also be considered.
  • Extensive experience in Financial Services, especially Investment Management
  • Experience in a company which complies with Solvency II legislation or is managing assets owned by Solvency II affected clients preferred
  • Knowledge of the business to business pension risk transfer market is preferred
  • Structured approach to analysis and documentation
  • Experience of requirements gathering and operating model definition
  • Experience of investment operations including collateral, securities lending and reporting
  • Experience of Agile/iterative delivery
  • Experience of full project lifecycle
  • Sound understanding of IT software and infrastructure
  • Ability to work independently and with others
  • Extremely organised with strong time-management skills
  • Evidence of a structured approach to analysis and documentation, using recognised tools and techniques
  • Experience of requirements elicitation and design, and operating model definition
  • Experience of Agile/iterative delivery and contribution to/creation of business cases
  • Experience of full change lifecycle with a client journey and product-led focus
  • Sound understanding of contemporary technology infrastructure, e.g. service based architecture and data management
  • Ability to work independently and with others
  • Extremely organised with strong time-management skills
  • Previous line management experience of BAs strongly preferred
  • Proven track record driving toward a more Agile environment

Qualifications:

  • Degree level education preferred
  • Business analysis qualification preferred
