The Investment Specialist will work as part of a growing team in our Dublin office. We're looking for someone to play a key role in supporting LGIM's Investment Specialist teams to enhance their European product offering, as well as track LGIM's core views on markets, current fund positions and key performance drivers. This position would be well suited to someone coming from an investment analysis, portfolio management or product specialist background.

  • Maintain knowledge of LGIM's core views on markets, current fund positions and key performance drivers, closely follow evolution of the market environment and keep abreast of asset management industry trends.
  • Collaborate with Investment Management colleagues to generate SME of LGIM’s Investment capabilities and support the Investment Specialist teams to enhance the European product offering.
  • Work closely with the Investment Specialist colleagues to perform investment analysis for internal and external communication, investors including on-going review of collateral, RFIs and RFPs.
  • Develop and increase relationship with Distribution and CRM teams to grow and consolidate international channels by supporting the teams with technical enquiries and communication of complex analysis and sophisticated ideas in a concise and understandable fashion, both in writing and in person to our stakeholders which range in sophistication.
  • Maintain and disseminate up to date knowledge of asset management industry, competitive landscape, products innovations. Perform ad hoc analysis and research on investment themes or at fund level, including requests from the CIO or the Fund Management desks.
  • Provide support for specific cross-functional investment related initiatives and organisation wide projects for the development of new investment strategies and vehicles to take advantage of market, regulatory, tax, and product developments to establish and maintain a market leading investment offering.
  • As part of the wider investment team, provide support to the operation of the team and contribute to the on-going development of the function.

 

Qualifications

Strong academic background with post graduate qualifications preferred, but not essential

Capabilities

  • Knowledge of financial markets, investment management and investment processes (with particular focus on Fixed Income strategies) gained through relevant experience in an investment analysis / portfolio management or product specialist role.
  • Effective and confident communication skills, such that outcomes can be achieved via a ‘partnership style’ approach with key stakeholders. An ability to exert influence, develop senior internal relationships and work collaboratively across multiple functions and geographical regions.
  • The highest standards of fairness, integrity and discretion recognising that they may periodically be in receipt of privileged information. 
  • Excellent numerical aptitude and Excel skills such that the individual can supplement supplied portfolio, risk and performance analytics with their own quantitative assessment.
  • An ability to deliver balance and objectivity in written and spoken qualitative assessments of performance and risk data, and investment processes.
  • The ability to work with minimal direction is important and the role holder will be able to demonstrate strong organisational and project management skills and work flexibly in changing environments.

Knowledge

  • Understanding of investment management techniques and processes, ideally in a Fixed Income context.
  • A degree in Economics or Finance and /or CFA are desirable
  • Project engagement and management skills (preferable)

Experience

  • Proven track record working in investment management, preferably in a fixed income front office role.
  • An understanding of institutional client product trends and competitor landscape.
  • Knowledge of another European language (i.e. Dutch, German or Italian) is highly desirable but not essential.
