We're looking for an Assistant Portfolio Manager with proven knowledge within fixed income or LDI to join the team to assist in the management of bespoke active LDI mandates, with the aim of delivering outstanding client performance and to further embed LGIM’s position in the marketplace. 

This role will involve assisting with managing portfolios, trade modelling, and contributing to discussions regarding trade ideas. Working within a successful team, this role provides great learning potential with the ability to take autonomy for decision making, and offers the opportunity to become more client facing over time. 

  • Supporting with the management of the ALS funds including monitoring investment performance and making investment decisions.
  • Working with the Global Trading Team to determine the most appropriate implementation strategy based on market conditions and an understanding of the client’s objectives
  • Managing liquidity and collateral requirements
  • Ensuring that any actions taken with respect to managing client portfolios are in accordance with LGIM’s Treating Customers Fairly policy
  • Working collaboratively with other areas of LGIM to ensure client objectives are delivered robustly and appropriate strategies are implemented within their portfolios.  This may include:
  1. Improvements to  portfolio management processes and systems
  2. Development of new or enhancement of existing services and products
  • Previous experience gained in similar positions is required.
  • CFA/Actuarial or equivalent investments technical background desirable
  • Knowledge of risk management instruments, including Gilts, credit, interest rate & inflation swaps, inflation swaps, gilt repos, gilt total return swaps, swaptions, equity options, equity futures & TRS and FX forwards
  • Knowledge of the regulatory and legislative landscape as it relates to pension schemes and to de-risking
  • High degree of proficiency with IT & programming skills (Python is preferable)
  • Portfolio management knowledge and experience including LDI portfolio management
  • Demonstrable track record of successful design, implementation and on-going management of risk management strategies for clients
  • Experience working with investment consultants and pension scheme Trustees
  • Ability to clearly articulate thoughts and ideas in a logical manner
  • Ability to engage and motivate others and to lead a diverse team
