This is a superb opportunity to join our successful Real Assets platform in a highly important and topical role. As an Environmental Social and Governance (ESG) analyst you will work closely with key suppliers of ESG data, including our utility bureau provider and our ESG data reporting platform supplier. You will own the process of collating, managing and reporting ESG performance data which will feed into the investment analysis process.

  • In this role you will act as a key link between the ESG team and a number of important internal stakeholders such as Client Solutions and other parts of the Legal & General Group.
  • As part of your role you will be supporting the team in providing updated qualitative and quantitative ESG information to support requests for information from existing and prospective clients.
  • The role will involve helping to deliver the annual Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB) surveys for property funds across the platform.
  • Your interpersonal skills will come to the fore in collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to gather data and to help drive improvements in GRESB performance.
  • The position will utilise your research skills to carry out research into new and emerging best practices associated with ESG across Real Assets.
  • The role will support the preparation and dissemination of annual and quarterly ESG reporting.
  • The role will lead on the analysis of ESG data and the review of technical reports to assess performance against targets at asset, fund and portfolio level.

Skills Required

Success in this role will require prior knowledge and experience of ESG in the real estate property sector, particularly around the management of energy, utilities and carbon.

  • Ideally we need knowledge and experience of ESG reporting and certification processes such as GRESB and the Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM)
  • Experience of integrating ESG into investment decision-making, though not necessarily in a financial institution, will be a definite advantage
  • This is a role which includes a number of technical aspects of ESG implementation and would suit a candidate who enjoys conducting data-driven ESG analysis
  • Excellent numerical and data handling skills are essential to bring the subject matter to life
  • Knowledge of energy and utility management and data
  • Experience of working across different teams and business units will be beneficial

Key traits / behaviours required

  • Central to this role are communication and collaboration. We need an individual with the ability to work closely with ESG team members as well as independently when required
  • A collaborative and partnering approach to working with key suppliers and stakeholders
  • Flexible and outcome oriented – we are a busy and growing business and this individual will need to have the appetite and capability to work on a variety of initiatives whilst prioritising effectively
  • Good communication skills, (verbal and written), with experience of writing and presenting information
  • Diligence and accuracy in terms of data analysis and written reporting
  • As you will be balancing multiple strands of work you will naturally need to be well organised

Whatever your role, we reward ability, performance and attitude with a package that looks after all the things that are important to you. Our employees have a wide range of benefits including a generous pension scheme, life assurance, at least 25 days’ holiday (with potential to rise to 26 days), private medical insurance, performance related bonuses, a variety of share schemes, discounts at both a huge range of high street stores and our own great products. Your hard work will be rewarded when you join us.
