We are seeking a Fund Risk Manager for LGIM Ireland to be responsible for ensuring the fund risk management framework, policies and processes are fully embedded.

Under the oversight of the Chief Risk Officer (CRO), LGIM Ireland, the Fund Risk Manager for LGIM MEL (LGIM Managers (Europe) Ltd) is responsible for ensuring the fund risk management framework, policies and processes are embedded within LGIM MEL. Following the transition of CP86 Designated Persons’ responsibilities from the external service provider (MPMF), the Fund Risk Manager’s role for LGIM Managers (Europe) Ltd will also incorporate the Fund Risk Management Designated Persons’ Function.

 

1. General Accountabilities:

  • Ensure that LGIM Ireland investment funds, mandates and other offerings are managed within an effective risk framework, consistent with their objectives including the provision of independent Investment risk oversight (measurement, management and reporting).
  • In conjunction with the Risk Officer, LGIM Ireland, keep abreast of external and internal regulatory bodies (ie: Central Bank of Ireland, Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF)), divisional and Group-wide risk standards and business changes; assess any potential impact for LGIM Ireland; ensure that changes to the regulatory standards are implemented by the first line.

2. Regulatory Accountabilities:

Fund Risk Management Designated Persons’ Function

 

a. Identification of Risks/Changes

 

The identification of key risks will be dependent upon the profile of the Sub-Fund. Such risks include the following:

  • Market Risk
  • Liquidity Risk
  • Credit Risk
  • Concentration Risk
  • Counterparty Risk

b. Setting Risk Appetite/Changing Risk Appetite

Before the Manager sets the risk appetite or changes the risk appetite of a Sub-Fund, the Designated Person will assess and liaise with the Manager and/or the Investment Manager and tailor the risk appetite accordingly.

c. Assessing Risk Mitigants

  • The Manager shall provide a Sub-Fund specific report which will be the framework document for identifying, monitoring and managing all key risks and shall also include recommended limits. The Designated Person shall be responsible for monitoring compliance of the relevant Sub-Fund in accordance with risk limits established by the Manager.
  • The Designated Person in the performance of his/her reporting functions will review each report once received and will determine if they present any material issues which may require consideration by the Manager in advance of the next scheduled meeting. If so, a meeting will be specially convened and action considered. If matters can be addressed at the next scheduled board meeting of the Fund, there will be no further action taken until such meeting is held.
  • The Designated Person shall investigate and resolve risk issues which are identified. If an issue is raised requiring action, the Designated Person will liaise with the relevant service provider to confirm details, identify options for mitigating the risk and consider any appropriate recommendations made by the service provider. The Manager shall determine what appropriate action may be taken and this may require the Designated Person carrying out an investigation and liaising with the relevant service provider.
  • The Designated Person shall report back to the Manager on the outcome of such investigations and resolution of material issues. Where such resolution has not been achieved, the Manager may direct the Designated Person to take further action.

 

 

  • Post graduate professional qualifications (ie: IMC/CFA)
  • Challenge: Provides independent, informed, timely and objective challenges to the LGIM Ireland Leadership team in relation to the management of key risks and ensuring their business activities are within the risk appetite set down by the Board.
  • Expertise: Understanding of the risks the Group has appetite to write, hedging and other techniques for mitigating risks Group has no / limited appetite and on the processes for managing risk
  • Analytical skills: Collate and interpret risk MI to identify and report on trends and issues to bring to the attention of first line risk managers and risk committees
  • Relationships: Maintains effective working relationships with internal and external risk stakeholders, such as LGIM Ireland CEO, Risk Officer, LGIM Ireland executive team, Branch Management Committee, Internal Audit and Divisional Risk & Compliance, and will liaise effectively with external organisations, such as the Central Bank of Ireland, as required under the direction of the Risk Officer, LGIM Ireland.
  • Investment Management Expertise: understanding of investment management techniques and processes, especially with regard to risk management and performance reporting.
  • Proven track record in fund risk management for an asset management business.
