PMO manager holds both leadership and management roles in the PMO. The PMO manager is also responsible for the various methods and practices around delivering change into LGIM.

Primary Responsibilities and Activities

  • Facilitates a consensus among the PMO stakeholders and organisational leadership around the mission and vision of the PMO organisation to foster a project-management-oriented culture and mindset
  • Engages senior leadership and business partners to define the PMO goals and operating model, and releases this after senior management approval, in the form of the PMO terms of reference
  • Leads the identification and development of PMO roles, team configuration and recruitment appropriate to deliver the agreed-upon PMO goals and objectives
  • Promotes the implementation of project management processes, methods, tools, guidelines and standards in order to establish a stable framework that supports all project/product teams and stakeholders to improve the probability of successful delivery
  • Leads the process that develops plans and prioritisation by leadership and governance
  • Defines, manages and directs the end-to-end PMO work effort, which includes implementing best practices and techniques in identifying, quantifying and tracking the realisation of expected benefits defined in business cases
  • Provides ongoing coaching and mentoring to PMO staff and project managers with regards to PMO practices and procedures
  • Builds and maintains relationships with the LGIM leadership team and key PMO stakeholders, and acts as a trusted advisor
  • Regularly reviews and evaluates opportunities to improve the project management best practices within LGIM, and where appropriate with the wider Group
  • Co-ordinates a, yet to be established project management community to facilitate collaboration and best-practice sharing among project managers and key PMO stakeholders within different parts of LGIM and the wider Group.
  • Maintain and enhance the  existing change delivery process across all LGIM change initiatives
  • Roll out systematic and efficient processes using a new project portfolio management tool to support management information and delivery requirements
  • Experience within a Change environment within Financial Services, and ideally Investment Management
  • Excellent knowledge of and understanding of the day to day operations of a global firm (preferably Investment Management)
  • Proven leadership responsibilities in an environment of change.
  • Experienced in large cross-functional teams influencing senior-level management and key stakeholders across the organisation and within complex contexts.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading diverse teams
  • Experience with one or more project management methodologies, ideally to include agile.
  • Programme management skills and experience, plus significant knowledge of project planning tools with evidence of practical application
  • Leadership skills to help develop and communicate the PMO vision, and inspire and motivate PMO staff
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain programme concepts and technologies to business leaders, and business concepts to the PMO staff
  • A distinctive blend of business, technology, financial and communication skills
  • Effective influencing and negotiation skills in an environment where resources may not be in direct control of this role
  • Excellent analytical, strategic conceptual thinking, strategic planning and execution skills
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute a strategic resource plan
