The Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) Team are looking for a new member of their team to quicklly move into a Portfolio Management role as they build out a fully comprehensive ETF business that can compete with the largest asset managers in the market.

The Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) team have recently joined the Index Funds to build out a fully comprehensive ETF business that can compete with the largest asset managers in the market. The ambition is to have up to 50 ETFs on the market over the next two years from our current 22 ETFs. The ideal candidate would have a background in asset management and have a real interest in how portfolios are traded and managed on a day to day basis. Training of the Portfolio Management "Safari" will be provided.

The jobs duties are as follows:

  • Assistant ETF Portfolio Manager (aim to have them manage physical/synthetic funds within 6-9 months)
  • Portfolio Composite File (PCF) training
    • Swap backed PCF produced by the Safari system
    • Requires knowledge of various inputs
    • 7am start
  • Collateral management (swap backed PCFs)
  • Corporate actions monitoring
  • Operations oversight
  • Reporting (monthly/quarterly/ad hoc)
  • Working with internal teams on integration
  • Internal facing initially
  • Eventually be a full back up
  • Trade physical equity ETF underlyings to ensure tracking with the index
  • Trade FX to satisfy settlement
  • Manage corporate actions/rebalances in the index
  • Place swap trades for swap backed ETFs
  • Place repo trades for swap backed ETFs, manage cash
  • Execute orders
  • Risk management processes
  • Develop an understanding of UCITS restrictions
  • Advanced Excel user (VBA preferred)
  • Knowledge of Bloomberg preferred
  • Excellent numeracy skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to make decisions and act quickly in a pressured environment
  • A good understanding of ETF's and the various replication models by which they carry their investment objective across the board from synthetic to physical replication is preferred
  • An understanding of how indices work and are calculated
  • An understanding of how PCFs work and are calculated
  • An understanding of UCITS regulations and guidance notes with respect to the management of the assets of ETF funds is preferred
  • Understanding of how ETFs are traded across the primary/secondary market
  • Experience in swaps and repo transaction preferred
  • Experience in managing physical tracking funds is preferred
  • Understanding of middle and back office functions
  • Seek innovative solutions to problems as they arise, implementing new processes and system developments
